Οι υποστηρικτές των μέτρων αυξημένης επιτήρησης στην Ινδία ισχυρίζονται ότι οι υπηρεσίες πληροφοριών μπορούν να εκτελούν τις εργασίες τους πολύ πιο αποτελεσματικά εάν η επιτήρηση είναι συγκεντρωμένη και αυτοματοποιημένη παρά περισσότερο διάσπαρτη, ομοσπονδοποιημένη και χειρωνακτική. Αλλά η επέκταση των βάσεων δεδομένων επιτήρησης και η συγκέντρωση των πληροφοριών θέτουν πραγματικούς κινδύνους.
