Ο ακτιβισμός τής Τουρκίας τα τελευταία χρόνια παρατηρείται κυρίως στην εγγύς γειτονιά της. Παρεμβαίνοντας με ήπιους τρόπους (στην εκπαίδευση, τον πολιτισμό και την θρησκεία) με πρωτοβουλίες μη κρατικών δρώντων και με άσκηση μη συμβατικών μορφών διπλωματίας συμπληρώνει αποτελεσματικά την εξωτερική της πολιτική, διευρύνοντας σημαντικά το πεδίο δράσης της.
Η ΕΥΠΡΑΞΙΑ ΝΕΡΑΝΤΖΑΚΗ είναι τουρκολόγος, μέλος τής ερευνητικής ομάδας τού Κέντρου Μεσογειακών, Μεσανατολικών και Ισλαμικών Σπουδών (ΚΕΜΜΙΣ).
